Catholics
Guilt
RFR-026
Catholics is a quirky hodgepodge of musicians based in Charleston, SC, each varying in their own vast and occasionally intertwining musical backgrounds in math-rock, post-rock, experimental rock, bluegrass, 90's emo/screamo, and post-punk. Directionally, the music tends to be looser than the principles behind the processes – pushing each other musically through healthy experimentation with ideas which sometimes feel off the beaten path – lending itself to an eclectic blend of genres and collaborative arrangements. The band's inclusionary approach often includes various satellite members both on the road and in the studio, and expansive arrangements of extra orchestration and instrumentation.
"Guilt" is a time capsule of the band's first few years, consolidating the songs they’ve perfected through live shows but haven't yet shared through recordings. Pieced together over the past 2 years, Guilt features a handful of heavy hitting instrumental tracks proceeded by a cover of "Asphalt" by their Virginia-based friends, Pygmy Lush (ex-Pg. 99).
